European Tactical Advanced Laser Optical System (TALOS)

In mid-October 2020, the French CILAS, a subsidiary of ARIANE GROUP FRANCE and the main executor of the European Tactical Advanced Laser Optical System (TALOS) project, together with the French Defense Innovation Agency (AID) and the French Defense Procurement Agency (DGA), began the first stage of testing the anti-drone laser system HELMA-P. During the tests, flying at a speed of 50 km / h, the drone was shot down from a distance of 1 kilometer. Power output and other system specifications are classified. According to the terms of reference, the goal of the HELMA-P project is to create a "multifunctional" integrated laser system that can not only destroy drones, but also be used to provide military air defense, as well as destroy artillery shells, missiles and mines.
