MILLIONS put into lockdown in China as country battles “most extensive Covid-19 outbreak since Wuhan.”
The country today reported 55 locally transmitted Coronavirus cases as the fast-spreading Delta variant began to reach over 20 cities in more than a dozen provinces.
Local govs. in major cities including the capital Beijing, are now testing millions of residents while cordoning off residential compounds and placing close contacts under quarantine.
The city of Zhangjiajie is just one extreme example where authorities locked down all 1.5 million residents on Friday.
The latest outbreak is linked to a cluster in Nanjing, where nine cleaners at an int. airport tested positive in late July.
