USA UAV MQ-9A upgraded for Submarines Search
🇺🇸 American unmanned aerial vehicles MQ-9A Reaper have learned to search for submarines using sonar buoys. In November 2020, General Atomics conducted tests to find a simulated enemy submarine at a training ground in the Pacific Ocean. During the tests, the device dropped 10 different buoys into the water, with the help of which the hydrological conditions of the environment were measured, as well as the search for underwater targets with broadcast data to the coastal center located in Mount Laguna, California.
These tests became part of a development program aimed at equipping MQ-9B SeaGuardian unmanned aerial vehicles with anti-submarine weapons, which will be capable of carrying from 40 to 80 RGAB for various purposes. This will reduce the cost of anti-submarine operations by attracting much cheaper unmanned aerial vehicles to them.
