The Russian Navy will receive amphibious "all-terrain ships"
The Russian Navy will receive amphibious "all-terrain vehicles" on an air cushion capable of "hovering" over rivers, swamps, glaciers and even land. They can be used not only on the water, but also in the coastal area.
The Russian Defense Department called on the enterprises of the military-industrial complex to create amphibious air-cushion ships capable of transporting up to 70 tons. With their help, it will be possible to transport tanks and other armored equipment, including the Bal coastal missile systems. "All-terrain ships" will be made in such a way that they can easily overcome shallow water. Such transport will be used not only for the implementation of military missions, but also in rescue operations.
A feature of such ships is the raising of the hull with the help of compressed air injected under the bottom. Thanks to this design, they develop a higher speed than classic boats. Such ships do not depend on the navigation period. When performing amphibious operations, such vehicles can be loaded with armored personnel carriers or infantry fighting vehicles and deployed an assault group. The ship is designed to carry Iskander and Bastion missile systems in the shortest possible time.
