Modernization of the Tu-160 Aerospace Forces of the Russian
Deputy Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation Alexei Krivoruchko and Commander of Long-Range Aviation Sergey Kobylash checked the readiness of the Kazan Aviation Plant for the production of a modernized Tu-160M from scratch.
Currently, the plant is building Tu-160M aircraft, repair and modernization of Tu-22M3 and Tu-160 long-range aircraft, as well as the production of special-purpose aircraft based on the typical design of Tu-214.
The production of the deeply modernized Tu-160 aircraft is the most important of the tasks of the Tupolev company and the Kazan aircraft plant. The first Tu-160M was created as part of a large-scale modernization program for combat aircraft systems of strategic and long-range aviation. The first flight of the deeply modernized Tu-160M aircraft took place on February 2, 2020, and in the fall, the first flight of the Tu-160M missile carrier with the new NK-32-02 serial engines was made.
In the west, the flight of the modernized Tu-160M2 bomber was included in the list of the most important achievements of the world aviation engine building for 2020. According to experts from the authoritative American profile magazine Aviation Week & Space Technology, the redesigned compressor, turbine blades and an improved cooling system have significantly increased the economy, and, consequently, the range of the aircraft.
